Share the following article, Snapshot of a Modern Learner, about school through the eyes of a student with your staff to review and discuss. Model personalized learning for staff as you share and discuss. Consider one of the following options (each moves the same PD experience up the SAMR ladder):

Data Driven DecisionsDeploy the Educational Technology Profile, if you haven't already done so, to determine your starting points for instructional planning.
Review instructional data and pick an area of focus for year 1. Will your deployment focus on reading? writing? math? How will having a personal device help improve student achievement?
Example: The percentage of students meeting/exceeding writing standards through the use of digital media tools and effective instructional strategies will increase by 10 percentage points annually. Craft SMART goals for your School Improvement Plan, Aspirational Goal #3.

Staff LaunchTake time to talk with your staff about their Hopes, Dreams, and Fears.
"Make a copy" of the Google Form and then use the results to guide discussion or use the second link and request results via email. (insert video on how to use Google Forms) Record these for future reflection. Take time to address Fears. Determine launch date and logistics for staff receiving MacBooks.
It is highly recommended to launch staff devices prior to student devices to give teachers time to plan and gain confidence prior to student deployment. Teachers are permitted to check out student devices in the evening/off hours in order to build familiarity with the iPad. |
